We had a great tour with Marie. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. Throughout the tour we saw and visited many beautiful places. We had no problems in timing as the advantage of having private tour .Marie is from Marseille, so she is local. That’s why she knows every little detail about her city. We also had a chance to explore the back streets of the city with Marie and thanks to her we could understand better the atmosphere and the daily life of Marseille.
Marseille was beautiful especially we loved the basilica and Longchamp palace. A truly architectural masterpieces.
The old port is the main touristic attraction of the city. There are many nice restaurants and there are a lot of shops selling local products-like special Marseille soap, special biscuit navette, lavender products or delicious marzipan calisson! (I loved it so much, that’s why I bought 3 Packs of calisson) We had enough time for shopping.
We were on Royal Caribbean cruise and so when our tour is over, Marie dropped us off at the port. It was great to discover this city. We enjoyed our day so much.

We were on the cruise and stoped in Marseille. The guide was Christopher and he was waiting for us at the port. He is a very good guide, he gave the best explanations and answers to all our questions. Thanks to Christophe, we have seen many unknown places in Marseille, except for the tourist attractions.
Notre dame is a Catholic church and best-known symbol of Marseille. The basilica was magnificient both inside and outside. You have a 360° view of the city. The view of Marseille was gorgeous from here.
Longchamp palace was one of the best structure of the tour. It was a little bit far from the old port. It was exactly a huge and impressive monument. The facade of the building was amazing. The Borely Castle was also nice and it has a beautiful garden. It’s also far from the center.
The cathedral of Marseille was so impressive. This cathedral is located near the port. It has an incredible facade and main door.The interior of the cathedral has beautiful mosaic floors. The old port was full of yachts and there are still some old fishing boats as well. It’s a good spot for taking some pictures.
From here you can see the basilica of Notre dame on the hill.
The old port is all surrounded by nice restaurants or cafes. It’s a good place to drink something, have your lunch or dinner. And it’s full of touristic shops to find the local things.
Thanks to Christopher, we tried Bouillabaisse that Marseille’s local dish. He suggested a very nice retaurant. It’s a traditional dish, it includes many different type of fish,seafood and vegetables. I have to say it was very delicious and satisfying.
My wife and I had a great day in Marseille. I have to admit I wasn’t expecting such a great tour but it was perfect. Of course, one of the reasons was our guide so good. The other reason was that your schedule very well organized.
